The Sluice Pond Association creates a sense of community among its members by offering events and celebrations throughout the year.
SPRING, 2008
The SPA would like to thank volunteers for their time and effort during Spring Clean-Up. A big thank you to Clean-Up chair, Dan McCarthy for leading the team, bringing tools and making pick-up arrangements with the city for debris.
Mass Wildlife stated, on phone only, Sluice Pond was stocked. From their site: "Because fall trout stocking runs for 2 weeks in late September through early October, weekly reports are not posted. Note: Due to factors including equipment failure, personnel, inclement weather, high water or other unforeseen circumstances we are unable to provide actual stocking dates and locations."The Division of Fisheries & Wildlife suggests that we don't introduce more bass into local ponds as it may prevent the current bass population from growing to their full potential.
Ippi restocked Sluice Pond May 12th with 330 Brown Trout during her 2nd Ippi's Restocking and Environment Day.So Ippi's Re-Stocking Fund money will go to stocking trout that are at least 12" in length (which are too big for some cormorants to swallow) into Sluice Pond.Youngsters with Ippi's guidance released 300 trout that are 12" or longer into the pond. This was the result of money neighbors donated and "put in the can" at Ippi's Bait and Tackle Shop in Wyoma Square for restocking over the last 3 years.
